Stuck in Seward...

Road conditions were less than ideal today so I didn't make it to Anchorage.
Stuck in Seward, what's a girl to do? Well, plenty if it's snowing!
Dave's girls went out for a skate ski this afternoon. We did the 8.6 miles out to the visitor center and back (17.2 miles / 2.75 hours = 6.25 miles/hr). I think I'm going to be really sore tomorrow. I ski-jored with Emma most of the way out (don't be fooled! it's still a workout!) and then used my own fat power coming back. We saw 2 other skate skiers, 7 snowmachiners and a really nice mushing team!! I think it might have been Dan Seavey Sr. but I can't be for sure. They stopped and said hi and said I didn't have to pull over everytime they passed. Looks like they were training some young dogs while pulling an ATV.

Patti & Em - looks a little different than this summer, huh?

here they come!

they're so fast, they're blurry!

some folk's ride

this is my ride

We made it out to the visitor center... now we have to make it back.

the snow started to come down hard and darkness settled in
race against night falling.
night won this time.

Thanksgiving

We are thankful for our wonderful families. And here in Alaska, so far away from our families, our amazing friends have become our surrogate relatives.

why is Dave wearing green gloves and grinning at the turkey? not quite sure...

putting Paul to work

to quote Heather & Paul: " this picture pretty much sums it up..."

funny faces

In an effort to take some decent photos of the two of us, we created more funny photos....

Gathering wood

Dave and I went out and gathered some firewood today.
His job was to cut the wood. My job was to haul the wood.

Girl Party at Brook's

I miss my friends in Fairbanks!!! Nothing like a little girl time to get the estrogen flowing!! Brook hosted a girl's night at her cabin and Jenny brought over a party pole complete with decorations and a microphone. Other props included a platinum blonde wig that everyone took a turn with (check out Ellie's blog to see what a horrible blonde I make!); tiger tail & ears; barrettes that came straight from the 80's and Jenny glued face jewels on all of us (even attempted to put one on Sadie the cat).

It's a good thing that we can't post the video clips. The audio consists of me or Brook singing at the top of our lungs off key to Madonna or the Eurythmics...

Julie & Ellie have fun pics posted on their blog sites. I'll try not to post some duplicates:

'Julie in action!

Even Ellie the 8 1/2 month pregnant sober lady took a turn at mike.
Hopefully Cletus won't be too traumatized...
