Watson Lake Canoe

Earlier this month we brushed the snow off the canoe and went paddling. Dave took the pak boat out for a scouting mission - looking for a good campsite before we loaded up the canoe. I think he just really wanted to take the pack boat out.Emma's ready.that brown lump is a live muskrat
common loons. there were a ton of birds on these lakes. cranes flying over head. buzzed by arctic terns. and ducks. there were lots of ducks, too.
camp. mmmm mooose steaks!
Dave taking the pack boat for an evening paddle. Frogs were singing that evening. Man they are loud!
Emma pretending to be a muskrat
Glaucous-winged gull & Bonaparte's gullEmma, riding the bow. But really getting run over by the canoe. She whines the entire time she's in the canoe so then we'll drop her off on shore and most dogs will run along the shoreline. Not Emma. She freaks out when you start paddling away and swims after the canoe. Lucky she's cute because sometimes she's not very smart. She figured it out finally and spent most of her time running on shore.
lunch break and some shelter from the wind

Heather & Paul come to Seward

Heather, Paul, Heather's dad and friend came down to Seward last weekend. We went halibut fishing on Sunday. This is the only photo that I took - I spent most of the time on the charter either horizontal or on the back deck during transit. ugh. it was rough in that small boat. We did catch a few halibut, though. Not really big enough to make the trip pay for itself but it was fun to get out with those guys. Heather took more photos, I'll post them when I get them from her at some point.

Parrett's Palace

While Julie & I were at the baby shower, the boys gathered at Lincoln & Julie's to watch some rugby. This is what we came home to:
yup. I felt about the same way. Dave, from having the 24 hour flu and me, from over-indulging at the wedding the night before.
The place looks great you guys!!! Fun to finally see it and all the work that you've done to it. And best of all, they're only a 5 min walk from Dan & Adrian's!
we miss everyone in Fairbanks. come down and visit us in Seward!

Rebecca's Baby Shower

Rebecca is due any day now! The ladies got together for her baby shower.
we all cut a length of string that was supposed to estimate the circumference of her belly. Stacia's turn.
Heather's turn. Heather cut like some ridiculous amount of string... 6 ft???
ooohh! baby kicking!
the moment of truth... Heather looks like she's re-thinking her estimate...
time to open presents! I didn't take photos of all the goodies... here are some onsies
hat from Heather
the ladies figuring out how the baby sling works - looked a little complicated!
dreamcatcher made by Stacia
homeopathic goody basket from Brook & Jenny
baby blanket from me
And we also passed around baby pictures of ourselves and tried to match the person to the baby. wasn't toooo hard to figure out which one was me. Here are a couple that my mom scanned in for me:
yup. I was a miniature sumo wrestler.

Nora & Dean Nuptials!

Nora & Dean got hitched on top of Moose Mountain in Fairbanks. I was happily surprised to see Art Sowls when we reached the top of the mountain. Art just retired from AK Maritime NWR in Homer. Here he is giving us a safety briefing about lighting the candles.
