Friends & Fireweed

Mandy and I went to the White Mountains for a short hike to Table Top Mountain. I think we spent more time getting there than hiking but it was worth it. It stopped raining and the sun came out - turned into a gorgeous afternoon. And the fireweed was amazing - GLOWING!

Heather spent the night on her way back from Prudhoe Bay. We got to visit with Rebecca and her boys, and Brook. Wonderful to see you Heather! You need to come up to Fairbanks more often!

I watched Gavin this afternoon for only 45 minutes and it completely wiped me out. I finally got him to sleep by cradling him and swinging him around in my arms at super G-force speeds. But had to eventually sit down because my arm was going to fall off. Adrian found me like this when she came back to get him. If you look closely there is veggie booty spittle on my left shoulder. And I love the death grip he has on my sweatshirt which never loosened. Not sure how you parents manage to do this 24/7!

Time to pick Dave up from the airport! YEAH!

A few images from Barrow

I'm looking forward to having Dave home in less than a week! He has cell phone reception in Barrow which is great. It's been nice to be able to text back and forth since there hasn't been much time for long phone calls. Sounds like they have been incredibly busy with birds nesting this year.
Baby lemming. I want one. Or 20.

Mt. Marathon Year #3

On my way down to Seward, I stopped in Anchorage to spend time with Heather, Paul, Coal and Teal. Coal has been learning important names, such as mama and papa's names. In response to 'Where do you live?', he replied very enthusiastically, 'I live in Africa!!!!'. Hopefully he never gets lost and sent to Africa.

I'm a maniac, maniac!!! I might have dated myself with that leg warmer reference.
Teal is 5 months now and such a cutie!
She just oozes cuteness

Angel Rocks to Chena Hot Spring

On Father's day we hiked from Angel Rocks to Chena Hot Springs. This was Gavin's first long day hike. 8 miles. He and his parents did great! Once again, dogs out numbered humans. The bugs were horrible at first, then we got above treeline and it wasn't so bad.
Gang at Angel Rocks
Gavin picked up a leaf and decided to try to eat it. Then it got stuck in his throat and he wasn't so happy. Luckily, it was retrieved and we all laughed at him. Poor guy.

Lunch break!

happy Emma

Squinty Sammy. She needs some doggles.
