We're engaged!!

Dave popped the question on Thursday. For those of you that have been inquiring about how he did it, I will try to re-enact the evening for you:

Thursday night, we went to the Crab Pot for a late dinner after I drove the two hours from Anchorage to Seward. Most of the restaurants in Seward are closed in the winter and I wanted to try this one out before it closed next week. We are closing on a house in Seward at the end of the month and were celebrating a little early.

As most of you know, we've been together for almost 5 years and everyone has been asking, "when are you guys going to get married?". Dave and I haven't talked about the subject for a while and I needled him a little bit about it, not very seriously. We finished our dinner and walked outside towards the car.

It was dark and raining. We're walking towards the car... the dialogue is as follows (more or less):

Dave: So, what do you think about what everyone's been asking?

Shiway: Well, I'm guessing we'll eventually get married
(as I start making my way to the car, Dave is still standing on the sidewalk in the rain)

Dave: Well, I got you a little present..

Shiway: Did you get me some new Xtra-tuffs (all purpose rubber boots, for those of you that are not familiar with these must-have AK footwear - Dave got me a pair for my birthday several years back)

Dave: no....(he pulls out this little black box)

Shiway: WHAT? are you SERIOUS???? wait, WHAT????? (repeated this over and over again)

Dave: (gets down on one knee in the rain, on the sidewalk) Let me see your finger.

Shiway: WHAT??? are you SERIOUS??? wait, WHAT?!?!?!?

anyways, Dave actually forgot to ask me to marry him until we got home and I finally figured out what was going on. eventually.

Ladies, here are some pictures of the shiny thing on my hand that I can't stop looking at. I took the pictures on our canoe/moose hunt trip this weekend. It even blinks near the campfire!!!
