Brook & Heather visit!

I've been looking forward to this weekend for months now. Brook came down from Fairbanks and Heather from Anchorage. On Friday, we went for a ski on the Iditarod Trail - made it ~ 1/2 way to Bear Lake and turned around. Warm & sunny! so hot we had to ski in our tank tops for a little while.
On Saturday, we skied on Exit Glacier Rd. ~11 miles to the overlook and back. We lost the sun but it was still warm and snowed part of the way back.
After the ski, we came back to the house for some lunch and R&R.
Ms. Otter is pooped!
And then the girls hiked out to Tonsina so we could get some beach time. Brook's a little land-locked up in Fairbanks! We found some easter eggs that someone left on the trail. No chocolate - too bad!
Here's Heather setting up the camera for a timer photo.
There's still a ton of snow on the trail.
Happy Emma and her stick!
Happy girls on the beach!
a few videos:
Heather demonstrating how to ski backwards - we've never seen this done before!

Dave, demonstrating ski-joring with Otter and Emma hooked up. You might want to turn down the volume. As the dogs aim for me, Dave calls them a very un-PC name as he goes by.

Heather baiting the dogs with some Fucus gardneri. Mette - remember this one from summer camp? It's the only scientific name that I remember from that class.

We had a great time. I really miss you guys!
