It's been a fabulous extended Fall in Fairbanks. So nice that we headed into the White Mountains, a couple hours north of Fairbanks for some hiking and ptarmigan hunting this weekend. To our surprise (shouldn't have been so surprised), we came upon Winter.
Neither one of us brought gators. Which is always fun when post-holing.

Lynx tracks next to the creek. Emma J waiting patiently for us to figure out to get across the creek.

This morning, we woke to a light dusting of snow in Fairbanks. And I think it's going stick. I'm looking forward to skiing, sledding, ice sculptures, bonfires, cabin trips, and cozying up next to the heater with a good book. And also for life to slow down a little bit! Bring it on Winter! We're ready for you!
