Reds, Reds, Reds

Dave & Ellie went to Chitina a couple weeks ago and brought home our yearly catch of sockeye salmon. Unfortunately, I couldn't go this year. I was supposed to be in the lab running samples. Which is too bad because I LOVE DIP NETTING at Chitina! It's a lot of work and it takes a toll on your body but the thrill of fighting the current and feeling a fish hitting your net is priceless. Next year.
Dave's station. He gets to filet.
Filet master Safine
My station. Packaging and vacuum sealing filets for freezing, prepping for canning and smoking.

Smoked salmon! I even made a sugar free (used agave nectar), soy free, gluten free batch. Even Dave likes it!
Fish are in the freezer, now it's time for hunting. Dave's off goat hunting. Hopefully he'll get lucky! I would like to be hunting with him but I have to study for my qualifying exams. *sigh*

Love, love, love reading about your hunting and fishing. Makes me want to do the same...or, have Brian do the same, honestly. Lots of love to you both. Would love to come up and sample your hard work. Miss you!
