I'm not sure what possessed me to have 12 inches of hair cut yesterday. I knew I wanted something different, maybe a little shorter, but I wasn't expecting this! But I've been fed up with having long hair and not being able to do anything with it in the winter: it's either in a pony tail, under a hat, or flat on my head. I asked my hair stylist for suggestions that might be flattering. The conversation went like this:
Stylist: Just the usual trim today?
Me: Actually, can you suggest any styles that might be flattering? short is OK. It's hair. It grows back, right?
Stylist: hmmmm. OK. (takes my hair and lifts it up to shoulder length, then chin length, then above my chin). How about this? I think this will look good.
Me: (desperate for a change) OK!! Sounds good! This will be fun!
Stylist: Let me cut most of it off first before I wash it (takes out scissors, begins hacking my hair off) *pause* Does your husband know that you're doing this?
Me: (Um, does it really matter now that 1/3 of it has been hacked off??) Yes. No. He knows I'm getting my haircut. It's hair! It grows back, right?
It is amazing how attached to hair people can get. I think of myself as pretty unattached to my hair but I had to try really hard not to freak out the entire time she was cutting and thinning and trimming and cutting. I mean, what's the point of freaking out? too late now!
My first reaction after she was finished was - wow. what have I done. I look like a 12 year old boy!
I haven't had my hair this short since I lived in Seattle. And I had fun with that haircut but I was also in my mid-20s and full of sassifrass. Now I'm in my mid-30s and feeling pretty frumpy! Maybe this haircut will help.

I like it Shiway! I am always a fan of short hair! Embrace it!
How's the move? How's the new house? How's the belly?
Torin is cranky. He's just tired of "recovering" all the time. Not always the good patient. I'll try to call this weekend if he gives me a break. Hugs to you.
Apes
I'm pretty sure that sassafrass will always be there. Love the new 'do. Hope you do to. xoxo, keira
